It's always had 'excellent food, first-class service & a meticulously chosen wine list', but now Alba has been jazzily refurmed as well, with walls painted a fetching shade of olive greem and some bold fabric-covered chairs bought in. The all-italian wine list includes notable half bottles & a wide selection of grappa with which to finish."
Square Meal
"Contemporary Italian within a short stroll of the Barbican, Alba offers a taste of the cooking, wines and cheeses of the Piedmont and Northern Italy. The menu, like the decor of olive green walls and colourful prints, strikes a modern post, the generous carte supplemented by daily specials."

"From the minute we walked in, my wife and I were treated to an italian culinary adventure to remember.
I highly recommend the avocado and buffalo mozzarella starter followed by the brasata or gnocchi main courses. A ide order of polenta completed a delicious secondi piatta. It seemed almost a crime to spoil the leaf effect created using cream for the tiramisu dessert, but fortunately the visual beauty was exceeded by the taste and texture of the classic Italian dessert.
All in all a most memorable meal, and well worth and entry on anyone's list o regular places to eat out.

'the best pasta" and "quality regional wines" make this "thoughtful" Piedmontese seem a "real" and "different" sort of Italian."
